Exoto is pleased to introduce the definitive model replica of Chevrolet’s muscle-bound factory special racer. The Lightweight Corvette Grand Sport. Equipped with a 377 cubic inch aluminum-block, it was designed to blow the hoods off Ferraris and Carroll Shelby’s Cobras at famous world tracks like Sebring or Le Mans.
To honor this spectacular Corvette of Corvettes, we designed our high precision miniature in grand 1:18 scale; determined to bring you an unprecedented level of finish and detail in every aspect. Inside and out.
Each wonderful replica features an independent tubular chassis, full opening parts, working suspension, accurate mechanical components, a fully wired and plumbed engine, and much more…
After the Prototypes had proven their mettle, 125 production street beasts were to be unleashed by Corvette Godfather, Zora Arkus-Duntov. It never happened. The GM boardroom in Detroit put a stop to the cars construction – but they couldn’t stop the 5 Grand Sports already built. And neither could the competition!
The 1963 Nassau cars raced on Goodyear tires while the spares were left the original Firestone brand supplied by the factory.
Chevrolet’s second muscle-bound factory special racer — the Lightweight Corvette Grand Sport Roadster — with its open design (said to maximize top speed) was destined for planned attacks at the 1964 Daytona Continental and Sebring; with the possibility of Le Mans later that year.
Only two Roadsters were ever built! They were sold, therefore entrusted, to Roger Penske…
