In 1970, the Fiat/Bartoletti Tipo 306/2 race car transporter was owned by David Piper, who loaned it to Steve McQueen’s production of Le Mans. For the film, the Bartoletti was repainted several times to portray different team haulers, including a Renault-Mirage livery used in background scenes. Mirage M2 under the name J.W. Automotive / Renault Mirage do appear in Le Mans, mostly in supporting shots where they are seen circulating with the rest of the field, in pit lane scenes, wide shots, and race montages.
