For VIII RAC British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the Scuderia entered its usual complement of three cars for Ascari, Farina and Taruffi. The front row included the fastest four qualifiers, three cars in the second row, another four behind, and so forth. The factory cars were all on the front row, joined by a single Gordini.
Cars bearing the prancing horse dominated the event, Ascari and Farina disappearing into a big lead. Taruffi had a bad start but fought his way back up to third. The blood red cars from Maranello held onto a comfortable 1-2-3 train until Farina became the victim of mechanical gremlins that set him back to 6th by the end of the race.
It was Alberto Ascari's day. In fact, 1952 was Ascari's year - he won every Grand Prix he entered and won the World Championship. His record for consecutive wins remains unbeaten.
