The Type MP4/6 F1 was the ultimate development of a series of cars that clinched 4 consecutive Drivers' and Manufacturers' Championships in the hands of gifted drivers, Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost. These two superstars were teammates in the MP4/4 and MP4/5, but when Prost moved on he was replaced by Austrian Gerhard Berger who played a crucial role in the 1990 and 1991 Championships.
In the MP4/6, an all-new V12 Honda engine replaced the previous V10, but the manual gearbox was at a disadvantage to Ferrari and Williams' semi-automatic 'boxes. Fortunately, Senna was able to make up the difference and survived escalating challenges from the Williams team. 10 poles and 8 victories yielded 139 Constructor's Championship points and 96 Drivers' Championship points, securing two titles!
